Kristen Nelson, MD

Dr. Kristen Nelson is a board certified adult psychiatrist, having received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of California, Irvine, and her medical degree from American University of the Caribbean, Cupecoy, St. Maarten. She completed her psychiatric residency at Eastern Virginia Medical School, where she received the PRITE Award and served as chief resident before going on to an Addiction Psychiatry Fellowship at the University of California, Los Angeles. Dr. Nelson provides comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and medication management to patients of all backgrounds, assessing the diverse needs of each individual. She has worked in inpatient and outpatient settings, crisis stabilization, consult-liason psychiatry, the emergency department, and has received extensive training in the Veteran’s Administration. Her areas of professional focus include mood disorders, depression, anxiety, PTSD, psychopharmacology, and substance abuse.
